The Ultimate Austrian Wine Experience is coming to St. Paul, Minnesota on August 12th, 2009

You’ve heard of the Alps and Mozart and you may know the film “The Sound of Music”, but did you know that Austria is also wine country and that Vienna is the world’s only capital city with significant wine production?

Austrian wine has achieved a cult following among wine connoisseurs world-wide. In fact, all of the top gourmet restaurants from Paris to New York to Tokyo boast Austrian wines on their wine lists. This is significant acknowledgment for a country responsible for only 1% of the world’s wine production.

Words like “Grüner Veltliner” and “Neusiedlersee-Hügelland” don’t exactly trip gracefully from the English speaker’s tongue, but wine connoisseurs who have tired of faceless Chardonnays and Cabernets that could come from anywhere in the world are crazy about Austria’s grape varieties and regions.

In a 2 hour presentation, participants will learn just why the wine world is raving about the wines of Austria. You will discover a refreshing array of aromas, flavors and unique grape varieties not found elsewhere in the world – wines with a sense of place that, above all else, are food friendly.

Julia Sevenich, a leading wine writer and wine critic from Austria will lead this commentated tasting and seminar. Participants will receive a copy of the “Ultimate Austrian Wine Guide”, a comprehensive guide to the country’s wine regions, vintners, and their current wines with retail value of 27 dollars.

When: August 12th, 2009 at 6 PM
