I got carried away with painting this mornig and didn’t stop at the flower boxes. The garden furniture and the window frames on the south side received a quick once-over as well.
Oiled the chain and pumped up the tires and went for my first mountain bike ride of the season. Only a 700 m vertical, but enough for a start. There is still so much snow at the top. I had to carry and push the bike for about half a kilometer at the top and sunk into knee deep slushy snow a couple of times. No worries though, the sun was shining and spring just smells so good in the Alps — at least until the farmers start spraying the fields with that fermented cow sh…excrement.
A tired 1999 Smith Haut Lafitte followed by a corked 92 Pape-Clément and a corked 90 Pavillon Blanc could not disrupt my mood. I opened my one and only bottle of 2005 Mondavi To Kalon Estate Reserve which not only paired wonderfully with Fettucini with a creamy goat cheese morrel asparagus sauce, it also brought back pleasant memories of the MW student residential in Napa Valley. A nice finish to a creative and rejuvenating Easter weekend.
